Birthday party

It seems wired to have a birthday party at this age! But the thing is, I just wanted to pass some time with my friends. And that was the reason for the party. About half of the members of CIT - 01 batch of my university were present yesterday. They are : Vicky, Dipu, Morshed, Shuvo, Sunny, Tareq, Hanif, Abedin, Munna, Oleen, Shiraj, Imran, Rafi, Fuad, Shajib, Sayeed. Beside them Rabbi, sumon, Eshu apu and tahnia, Mofiz chacha were also present. So, when I came back home at 8:30 PM from the office, I found lotsa people out there! WOW! It was really great to see them as I was passing "MoN KhArAp" - type day. Dont know ...but sometimes amar mon emnitei kharap hoe jae (na na... amar mon kharap na...mon bhalo... actually mon okhushi...)

Here are some photoes taken by my Nokia 7710 which are not good in quality for low light situation.

Getting more confused day by day ...

Day by day I'm getting more and more confused. When I joined Stamford University as a Lecturer in the department of Computer Science I was so happy! Coz Its really a very respectful job and also Stamford is a renowned private university of our country. I am pretty sure that it will be getting higher and higher ranking every year. Now it is considered as one of the top 8 universities of the country.

But suddenly I found that the telecom sector of this country is offering smart job with lotsa money! Yes, you can say that money is nothing in compared with honor, but the fact is - its not always true at all!

I had and still have wish to do my Masters and if possible the PhD as soon as possible. But if I join to any multinational telecom company or even in any Bank then it will be difficult to do my higher studies. Coz I will be detached with academic education and also more and more money will try to bias me. Only the teaching profession will lead me to my goal. And also I have a hidden wish of trying for the BCS service.

Except these, there r lots of other conditions and constrains I am considering now a days. So I am getting more and more confused day by day.

Hope and pray Allah Almighty will help me ...

CIT - 01 RuLz

Recently I've heard from someone that my degree (B.Sc. in computer science and Information Technology, CIT) is not a good one. And also he/she thinks that the people of the CIT department of IUT are not engineers i.e. its not an engineering degree. What should I say, I was just stunned! Then how come we (The CIT people of IUT) are members of The Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB)? Ha ha ha … wanna check my membership? Here is my member No: AM/8728.

Actually sometimes I become frustrated as my university doesn’t do any publicity here in Bangladesh. And that’s the reason most people (actually academic and engineering people know about it though) don’t know what it is about. Well… I never felt bad, but when I hear something bad about my degree and my university from really very close person then I become frustrated. Tell me, what to do?

How come people think that CIT of IUT doesn’t have any job? And only the EEE guyz are ruling in the job field? Actually amra hoilam hujuger jaat, Hujuge Bangali… so ekhon telecom sector e EEE guyz beshi chance passé…tai shobai oidike douraitese…but keu shudhur proshari dristi dey na. Why the demand of the EEE guys increased? And why the demand of Computer Science people have decreased (as people thing!)? Have you looked at the private universities of Bangladesh? There are about 54 private universities here in Bangladesh and all of them have some departments related to Computer Science and Engineering. But the fact is, they are not producing quality graduates. Thus the demand of the Computer Science people have decreased in job market dramatically in our country. On the other hand, there were only the renowned public universities and a couple of well reputed private universities who had the EEE department. When the giant employers start hiring people they find only those handful EEE guyz who were average in quality and less in number. So it was easier to find a good employee out of them. Coz the private sector was producing thousand of Computer graduates where only a few were quality graduates and others were waste production or you can say, only the certificate holders. I am telling these things with due respect to the students of the private universities coz there are both good and bad quality graduates. No one can say that all of them are bad, even some of them are way too good than the public university graduates. I hope every one will do agree with me in this regard. I can name some of the good private universities like: NSU, AIUB, BRAC, STAMFORD, IUB, Ahsanullah, East – West etc.

Any way, Now I am listing below the status of the 36 students of my department who were graduated in September, 2005 below:

Facing any problem in fire fox???

I had a wired problem in my firefox. Some thing like : "Every time I go to download any kind of file it crashes. I don't get an error report because it automatically sends the report without me seeing it. It even crashes when I'm saving pictures (on the save as part it is just blank. it doesn't have png or jpg or gif or anything). Then when I try to go to options to change the options it crashes again. I basically can't do anything except surf."

After a few search in google, I got the solution. Do the following things:

In your "Working Profile" C\docs&settings\username\applications\mozilla\firefox\profile...
Look for: downloads.rdf , Delete this file with Firefox closed.

When you restart a new clean file will be created.
If you are searching for the file name: downloads.rdf make sure you have show hidden files/folders enabled.

You can also go to Start > Run: %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\ProfilesThe ********.default folder (random name) is the profile folder. If you have more than one then check them all: with Firefox running you have a parent.lock file. Always close Firefox before making changes to the profile folder.

So be aware and make your download list clean.

You Decide ...

You are driving down the road in your car on a wild, stormy night,
when you pass by a bus stop and you see three people waiting for the
bus:

1. An old lady who looks as if she is about to die.
2. An old friend who once saved your life.
3. The perfect partner you have been dreaming about.

Which one would you choose to offer a ride to, knowing that there could only be
one passenger in your car?

Think before you continue reading.

You could pick up the old lady, because she is going to die, and thus, you should save her first. Or you could take the old friend because he once saved your life and this would be the perfect chance to pay him back. However, you may never be able to find your perfect mate again.
